TRAINING THINKING EXPLORING
– In the pursuit of all things extraordinary there is a level of unrest that will plague you. There is only one way to become comfortable in turmoil and seek solace when under duress and that is acceptance. Acceptance of what lead you to this position, acceptance of how lucky you are to be doing it and acceptance that the job must be done regardless. Once this has been achieved there are few things on earth that will stop you.
- Excess, excess seeking the excess. For some the excess that can be achieved in any activity is far from what they will ever reach. For others it is close to the sole reason they begin. No matter what your vice is managing excess is important, to seek it when required to calm the mind and to bow out before it is irreversible.
– The energy of those you love, you will absorb vicariously. Now this can be a super power and a hinderance in achieving a balanced frame of mind. When the people around you are winning and on top of the world you will be right there with them benefitting from whatever they are doing, but when they are down and out of luck you will sink with that ship. One of the greatest things you can do in life is offer a life raft to those people in those times, its how we survive as people. Measuring when people need a life raft is the hard part. Some want to wallow, some want to go deeper into that hole and others are looking for the first exit upward. Remember it is your duty to help those people you love, that could be your friend or your family, but do not put yourself at adverse risk saving someone that doesn’t want to save themselves.
– One of my favourite sayings is ‘through hell and high water’. I can’t tell you why or how or when I came across this but those 5 words stir such motivation and desire within me it’s hard to describe. Although everyone will dance to a different drum beat please seek something you can turn to in your darkest hours that pulls everything into sharp focus and gets you going again. It is all too easy to get caught in a rut so have something there that smashes those barriers down
– There is a gulf of difference between making a living and making a life, all too often people get caught in thinking the former produces the latter however, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. A living will put food on the table and a roof over your head which is vital and must be obtained but the level to which it is pursued must be mediated. That buzz you get after buying that new thing is so fleeting and in its wake is a desire for the next big thing which looms into focus. When making a life the pursuit is often harder and less defined this is where the beauty lies, you can literally do anything you want. Climb a mountain – easy, write that book – piece of cake, ask that person out – what a doddle. Anything, I mean anything is possible when you truly desire to achieve it. One thing I promise you is that the buzz you get once you’ve conquered whatever challenge you undertake never truly subsides. I haven’t heard people talking about a new car for more than a couple of days but I’ve heard recollections of stories of trips and challenges throughout the years that leave the story teller with a big cheesy grin on their face. Remember you can’t do everything but you can do anything, so sit down and have a think about what lights that fire inside you, once you’ve got that the rest is formalities.
– Be where your feet are.
– Do it to do it, not to have done it
– Plan, Commit, Execute
– Be consistent and unrelenting in the pursuit of the thing that sets your heart on fire
